SLEEP
As I sit here night after night
I sit here until my head aches
Thinking until my eyes close
Lack of sleep does encumber
July 25, 2004 Poetry © Jan Haile Clark
Trying to get my head on right
Find it hard my words to form
Maybe the room is too warm
Perhaps the sun my brain bakes
Could it be just sleep I need
Would my words then be freed
Want to have a relaxing doze
It never lasts for very long
Wonder what I'm doing wrong
I just want to deeply slumber
Sleep, sleep, I only want this
Let me sink in heavenly bliss
Music playing is "Irish Lullaby"
